AGCO plans a Digit humanoid pilot at its Hesston, Kansas, factory from 2027
Short answer: AGCO, the agricultural machinery company behind brands such as Fendt and Massey Ferguson, and Agility Robotics announced on 20 October 2026 that they have signed a commercial agreement for a humanoid robot pilot at AGCO's production facility in Hesston, Kansas. The pilot is expected to begin in 2027, according to the companies' joint press release.
According to the release, Agility's Digit robot will initially support assembly and production work, including sorting and stacking parts and placing totes for storage. AGCO says the aim is to automate repetitive and physically demanding tasks, improve ergonomic safety and efficiency, and free employees for more skilled work.
"This strategic relationship views humanoid robotics and AI as essential 'teammates' in building flexible, intelligent factories," said Thomas Enghof, AGCO's director of manufacturing technology, in the release. The companies say Digit will be paired with Agility Arc, Agility's cloud platform for deploying and managing robot fleets.
The announcement does not give the number of robots involved or the value of the agreement. Agility said the following day that AGCO is among four new customers as it prepares Digit 5 and expands in Pittsburgh.
