Agility moves Digit 5 onto NVIDIA IGX Thor and expands in Pittsburgh
Short answer: Agility Robotics said on 22 October 2026 that the general-availability version of its Digit 5 humanoid will standardise its onboard computing on NVIDIA IGX Thor modules, making NVIDIA the exclusive onboard compute supplier. A day earlier, on 21 October, the company announced a new 50,000-square-foot facility in Pittsburgh and said it has secured more than $300 million in multi-year Digit 5 orders, subject to contractual milestones, according to its press releases.
According to Agility, the change unifies Digit 5's onboard computing on NVIDIA IGX Thor modules and builds on its earlier decision to incorporate elements of NVIDIA's Halos safety platform into its own safety system, including the way Digit detects people around it. The company says it will also take part in NVIDIA's Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab, which will evaluate Digit's safety-related software, AI components and cybersecurity protections ahead of final third-party certification. Agility says early access to Digit 5 should begin in the first half of 2027, with availability widening over the following six to nine months for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operators.
The Pittsburgh site, Agility says, will add about 35,000 square feet to its existing footprint in the city and serve as its centre of excellence for software and AI, and increase its capacity to deploy, monitor and service Digit robots for customers. The company says Digit already operates with GXO, Schaeffler and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and that it has added four customers in automotive, consumer goods and agriculture, including a pilot with farm-machinery maker AGCO.
The $300 million figure needs context: Agility says the orders are subject to the satisfaction of certain contractual milestones, and it did not name the customers behind them. The Next Web reported that the announcements come as Agility prepares to list on Nasdaq through a merger with a blank-check company, Churchill Capital Corp XI, which the companies expect to close in the fourth quarter.
