Generative Bionics plans a 5,000 m² humanoid training "data factory" in Italy with AMD

Short answer: Italian humanoid developer Generative Bionics announced on 21 October 2026 that it plans a network of three "Physical AI Data Factory" sites to train humanoid robots, starting with a 5,000-square-metre hub in Italy that it expects to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2027, with AMD as its AI infrastructure partner, according to the company's press release.

The company says fleets of its GENE.01 humanoid will carry out industrial tasks continuously in reproduced real-world work environments chosen with industrial partners, generating data to train what it calls World Action Models. Each environment will also be rebuilt as a digital twin so tasks can be repeated across thousands of variations in layout, objects, materials, conditions and failure modes, and models trained in simulation will return to the physical robots for validation, a loop Generative Bionics calls real-to-sim-to-real.

According to the release, AMD Helios rack-scale systems will provide the compute for processing physical and synthetic data, training models and running simulations. A second site is planned elsewhere in Europe and a third to serve global markets. Generative Bionics says the first hub will be Europe's largest physical AI training facility for humanoid robots; that is the company's own description. Robotics & Automation News reported the plan on 23 October.

Generative Bionics presents the project as supporting European control over humanoid data, models and know-how. The company says AMD Ventures took part in its €70 million seed round led by CDP Venture Capital, and that AMD compute already runs on board GENE.01. Other developers are also combining real and simulated training, including NEURA with its new TUM RoboGym and Unitree with its Rehearsal project.
